Thanks for coming over to my page, it's nice to see you here.

My name is Leah Rose and I'm 29 years old.

I've had depression and anxiety all my life but I was officially diagnosed 16 years ago.

I am a survivor of:

  • Physical abuse
  • Sexual abuse
  • Mental and emotional abuse
  • Neglect
  • Addiction
  • Domestic violence
  • PTSD
  • Postnatal depression
  • Eating disorders (Anorexia, binge eating disorder and EDNOS)
  • Self harm
  • Suicide
I'm currently studying to become a youth and young adult counselor dealing with mental health, abuse and addiction and I'm in my 4th year of University (2 more years to go!)

My aim is to help and support others who have been and are in my position. To show them that there is life after the tragedies they have endured and to empower them to become all they can be.

I believe everybody should have access to support as and when they need it, and I have dedicate my life to those who need help. Nobody should ever feel alone.

I am an avid mental health advocate and supporter of the mental health movement.

"Black Dog" depression

I saw a video a few years back about depression, it was called "I had a black dog, his name was depression" published by the World Heath Organisation (2012). It was the first video that I had seen that didn't try to "jazz-up" depression. I've seen many videos that are the equivalent of the kitten on a wire poster saying "hang in there". No, I don't need that, I can " hang in there" just fine. I need something to relate to when I feel alone, something that says "yes, I understand". This video showed that, in fact I still watch it occasionally even now. I was first diagnosed with depression when I was 15.
